Maps Sponsors Mansfield v Southport clash

Maps were match day sponsors of the game between Mansfield Town FC and Southport FC on Saturday.

The result was 1-3 with away side, Southport, claiming all three points and their fifth away win in a row.

Mansfield man of the match, chosen by us, was Luke O'Neill and was presented with a bottle of champagne by James Tattersall.

Maps moves into Manchester

Maps is opening a second office in Manchester at Exchange Quay on 6th June 2011 as part of their ongoing growth strategy.

We are recruiting a new team of Claim Handlers to complement our head office in-house claims team in Southport.

Major website upgrade

A major event is happening on Friday evening (25/3) - we are launching a completely re-written version of our website secure area called DORCAS (Direct Online Reporting of Claims And Sales). It’s all very exciting!

We have invested over £100,000 in our website over the last few years. The re-write started at the end of 2009 and has taken thousands of hours work to complete.

The new site will be hosted on three separate dedicated servers within different clusters to ensure maximum reliability and security. We have used the opportunity to refine complicated processes and add new features which were not previously possible. Thousands of tests have been written to help eliminate bugs when we release new features in the future as part of our commitment to continuous development. The new site will have all the capacity we would ever need as we become more and more successful.

Maps Wins IIP Silver Award

Maps have been an Investor in People since 2004 and are re-assessed every three years. In October 2010 we chose to be assessed against the Silver award which involved a much more detailed examination of our company. An independent assessor spent two days putting us through a rigerous evaluation and we were delighted to achieve the Silver Award.

Police Conference Success

Maps attended this year’s National Association of Police Fleet Managers Conference on 7 & 8 September in Peterborough. We received fantastic feedback from our exisiting clients and made many new friends.

Go Ape Again

A group from the Maps team enjoyed a day out at Go Ape on Sunday 5th September at Rivington, Nr Chorley.

The weather was very kind to us and everyone completed the course without any incident. Adam chickened out on the last ’leap of faith’ jump into a rope net. James and Dan dared each other to jump without holding on – which they did – but it was rather scary!

ISO9001 Success

Maps achieved the ISO9001 standard in 2005 and is independently audited every year by ISOQAR. Our assessment this year was on 2nd September and involved a detailed examination of all our business processes and procedures.

The auditor in his report this year commented: “There is extremely good evidence of the organisations approach to maintaining its management systems, infrastructure and overall environment, in line with its commitment to service delivery and continuous improvement. The Quality System is supported through a framework of procedures/processes, documentation, detailed records, maintaining of awareness and planning for improvement. Company is customer focused and there is also again, extremely good evidence in place to support client reviews, customer feedback and service level performance. Evidence is in place to support the internal audit and management programme of review, including a detailed framework of objectives, targets and performance metrics. Processes are established, monitored and measured. These confirm suitability of systems and procedures, and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the organisations overall quality management system and service provided.”

Maps staff spent another enjoyable evening at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium on Friday. Dan, who organised the trip was on good form – managing to win in most races.

Murder at the Farmers Arms

A team from Maps had an eventful evening of food and fun at a murder mystery night held at the Farmers Arms in aid of local charity, Rainbow House. Although none of us correctly identified the murderer we enjoyed questioning the suspects especially headmaster Roger (twice nightly) and gym mistress Virginia Goodbody.

ALARM comes to Southport

The ALARM conference on 28 & 29 June was held in Southport only a few yards away from the offices of Maps. The event was a great success and enabled us to meet many new and existing clients and cement relationships with our partners in the public sector.

MAPS gets the green seal of approval

Groundwork Merseyside undertook an audit of our resource efficiency recently and concluded that “Maps Legal Assistance has excellent systems for managing energy and waste”. It was recommended that our environmental performance should be publicised more widely.

The company is on a ‘green tariff’ and has implemented several energy saving initiatives including implementing a thin client server, thereby reducing electricity consumption. Several other initiatives have been introduced to reduce the amount of waste we create. Paper, cans, cardboard and toner cartridges are all recycled.

Maps have reached the finals again in the 2010-11 National GO Awards for Excellence in Public Procurement - Best Service Award.

Following intense consideration from the GO Awards judging panel, the finalists in each category have been decided. With award categories covering Individual of the Year, Team of the Year, Sustainability Initiative of the Year, Collaborative Procurement Initiative of the Year, Best Service, Best Supplier Engagement Initiative, Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Benefit in Procurement, and Innovation or Initiative of the Year, competition has been fierce, and only the very best nominations have achieved finalist status.

The awards ceremony is being held on 15th June 2010 in London.

Award Finalists for Most Innovative use of Software

Maps are one of four finalists at this years Claims Technology Awards in the CMC category for most innovative use of software. The shortlist of nominated companies includes many of the biggest names in the claims sector.

The awards aim to acknowledge and reward excellence in the development and application of technology for the insurance and legal claims management industries.

Entries were received from a wealth of individuals and companies involved in all aspects of the claims process; from law firms, insurers and brokers to claims management companies and medical reporting agencies.

The winners will be revealed at a prestigious ceremony and dinner at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester on Thursday 6 May where more than 250 professionals involved with the personal injury, claims management, insurance and rehabilitation sectors will come together to celebrate, network and socialise.
